On Saturday, twenty-one youngsters perished at an Enyobeni tavern in East London, South Africa. The bar where the youngsters mysteriously perished is now surrounded by yellow police tape as police continue to comb for evidence.
The authorities are looking into the fatalities’ cause, which was not immediately apparent. Now they suspect gas or chemical poisoning as the victims were discovered strewn across the floors and tables with no obvious injuries. According to South Africa’s liquor commission, the tavern’s owner will be prosecuted for allegedly breaking licensing conditions. Among the dead is a 13-year-old victim who is the youngest of the at least 21 individuals who were killed at a bar, according to police minister Bheki Cele.
