Last week, the United States Supreme Court reversed a 50-year law that granted American women a legal right to abortion. Many of those who had pushed for this reversal were outspoken Christians. American society is split over the ruling with pro-life activists applauding the move to curb rising abortion rates, while pro-choice activists bemoan the loss of women’s rights to their bodies.
In a speech to the nation, President Joe Biden argued that voting for Democrats in November’s mid-term elections is the only way for Americans to defend their right to an abortion. “We must elect more senators and representatives who will re-enact federal legislation that protects a woman’s right to choose,” he said. “We must also elect more state leaders to uphold this right at the local level.”
