The Kenyan court has blocked the accounts managed by a Nigerian online payments company Flutterwave. These accusations have been refuted by the corporation.
Kenya’s Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) reported that it requested and received approval for orders freezing 62 bank accounts belonging to Flutterwave and six other companies for a total of 6.2 billion shillings ($52.5 million; £43.9 million).
Nigerian startup Flutterwave enables internet payments for clients and businesses throughout Africa. It achieved a billion-dollar valuation last year, making it the fastest African-led company on the continent to do so.
The transactions made by Flutterwave in 29 accounts distributed over three banks were not supported by an explanation or any supporting documentation, according to the Kenyan authorities.
