The fastest man in Africa Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya has offered a philosophical response to his recent travel challenges to the US for the World Athletics Championships and his loss in the 100-meter semifinal.
He just got a travel visa at the last minute, so it was a minor wonder that he made it to the competition at all. He arrived a little under three hours before his qualifying heat on Friday, where he finished third.
However, he finished fifth in Saturday’s semi-final, preventing him from moving on to the final. He stated on Twitter that “every obstacle you encounter today makes you stronger tomorrow.”No matter how much rain pours on us, we continue to move.Fred Kerley, a US sprinter, won the 100-meter gold, finishing in 9.86 seconds in the Saturday night final.
Omanyala broke the African record in September of last year after running 9.77 seconds in the Kip Keino Classic competition in Nairobi.
