After a bus swerved off a bridge and into a river in central Kenya, at least 33 people were murdered and a number of others were hurt.Ten passengers, according to the officials, made it through the disaster on Sunday night.When the tragedy occurred, the car was en route from Meru, a town, to Mombasa, a seaside city.The brakes may have failed, according to early police inquiry findings.
There is currently a search and rescue effort, and more fatalities are anticipated.Images from the scene showed the bus as a crumpled wreck, its roof entirely ripped off, and its contents scattered all over.The bus allegedly swerved off the bridge and fell 40 meters below into the Nithi River.The incident is the latest in a series of deadly road accidents in Kenya.
