Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US permanent representative to the UN will begin her next trip to Africa later this week on August 5th with her first destination being Ghana then Uganda and Cape Verde.
In a press conference announcement, she stated that the purpose of her next trip to the continent is to learn firsthand about the effects of the world food crisis and how to work with the region to address the issues.
The diplomat announced her intentions to visit marketplaces, farms, and food production facilities in order to better understand and assist Africa in utilizing its own resources.
Discussions with Presidents Nana Akufo Addo of Ghana and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, according to Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield, would also center on regional security, corruption, and human rights.
