The 16th annual “Africa Endeavor” symposium was held in Marrakech, Morocco. The event which ran from August 1 to 5, was directed by King Mohammed VI in conjunction with US Africa Command (USAFRICOM) as part of the Global Plan of Moroccan-American Military Cooperation.
The symposium took place in the midst of lobbyists’ ongoing attempts to block the annual African Lion military drill which is looking for a new home after being hosted in Morocco for the past 18 years.
High-ranking military and security officials from the United States, and Morocco, as well as representatives from 21 African countries and officials from the African Union, deliberated on major security areas of concern including cybersecurity, telecommunications, and information systems
According to a statement released on Friday by the general staff of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR), military experts from the US, Africa, and Morocco discussed a variety of topics relating to cybersecurity as well as the necessity of enhancing and upgrading telecommunications and information systems.
During multinational operations, the specialists also talked about how to increase FAR interoperability with its American and African allies.
