Rescue operation teams have confirmed the death of 6 persons as a result of the collapse of an unfinished 7-story building along Oba Idowu Oniru street in Lekki Lagos, on Sunday. According to local media, the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The Lagos Physical Planning and Urban Development Commissioner, Idris Salako, resigned on Monday following the incident.

The National Emergency Management Agency’s office coordinator in Lagos state, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the rescue operations underway saying, “We are preparing for the worst case scenario as more individuals are believed to be buried beneath the rubble, rescue efforts are still ongoing”.
