President-elect William Ruto of Kenya claims that outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta did not think it appropriate to congratulate him on his victory. “The crucial fact is that I won the elections. Sadly, President Kenyatta has not felt inclined to congratulate me, but I don’t mind. Perhaps he is a little disappointed, or perhaps he is upset that I defeated his candidate. However, that is how politics works, ” the President-elect said in an interview with CNN.
Hours prior to the interview’s airing, Mr. Ruto tweeted about his phone call with President Kenyatta, during which they spoke about the general election and the changeover to a new administration.
