For the first time since his victory in the August 9 elections, Kenya’s next head of state William Ruto has received official congratulations from the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta had supported the seasoned politician Raila Odinga,  to succeed him. Several petitions that contested Mr. Ruto’s victory were dismissed by the Supreme Court last week.

President Kenyatta,  finally said he would be present for Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony in a speech highlighting his administration’s significant accomplishments on Friday.

Insisting that the nation had experienced a significant shift during his administration, Mr. Kenyatta urged his successor to serve all Kenyans regardless of their political views. He emphasized improving the nation’s devolution system and the inclusion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the East African Community.

More than 20 heads of state have been invited to the ceremony, according to the team overseeing Tuesday’s handover, and preparations are now finished.
