NBA Basketball was hit by scandal in September 2022 when Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka was accused not only for cheating on his long-term Hollywood girlfriend Nia Long with a married staff member, but also several other allegations of affairs and sexual harassment.
Udoka’s suspension comes as his affair with Kathleen Nimmo Lynch (33) who is married with 3 children to a former Celtics employee Taylor Lynch, was exposed after a whistleblower and internal investigation was conducted during summer.
On September 23, the reigning Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics suspended Ime Udoka for a year , not for the consensual affair, but for using “unwanted comments” toward an unspecified female staff member, it is reported.
According to the NBA, the suspension runs through June 30, 2023, and assistant Joe Mazzulla will lead the team as interim coach for the 2022-23 season. The owner of the Boston Celtics, Wyc Grousbeck,was quoted saying that the suspension comes with a “significant financial penalty, and that Udoka accepted punishment and apologized.
