On Tuesday, the Teranga Lions of Senegal became the first out of the five African teams to qualify for the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. In a match played at Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, the La Tri of Ecuador lost 2-1 and checked out of the games. The team coached by Captain Kalidou Koulibaly marks the third time Senegal has made it to Round 16 knockout stage.
Senegal entered the games as the highest-ranked African team in the tournament after defeating Egypt in Penalty Kicks to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Now that the Teranga Lions have made it past the Group Stage, analysts predict its still one of the weaker teams in the Knockout Stage with a fair chance to advance to the Quarterfinals, depending on who they draw in their Round of 16 matchup
