In another Twitter jest, Uganda’s General Muhoozi Kainerugaba once again gained a new set of enemies after issuing what seemed to be a threat to opposition journalists. In a tweet posted on his official page late Monday afternoon, Mahoozi promised to crush journalists whom he claims to be abusive when comes to power. The Ugandan president’s son and former general is not new to diplomatic controversy.
General Muhoozi tweeted ahead his launch of a new political party, that will cap him officially a new player in the Ugandan political scene ahead of their 2026 elections.
Opposition leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Mr Bobi Wine in response to General Muhoozi’s tweet alleged some already existing constraints in Ugandan media spaces, noting the situation could get worse under what he views as a rising threat, General Muhoozi.
“Under Gen. Museveni, a considerable number of journalists have been tortured & killed. Many are in exile. Media houses have been raided or shut down. Guess what? His thoughtless, brutal son thinks that’s nothing & promises to crush them “when he comes to power”! Our task is clear,” President Wine tweeted.
