Google announced that it would be assisting with scaling up start-ups with a sustainable technology focus on December 8. The tech behemoth is demanding more from the European and Israeli tech startups who will join the three-month hybrid program building innovative solutions to cater to advancing digital transformation in climate solutions.
Google’s first hybrid accelerator program in Europe and Israel will select and support between ten and fifteen startups dedicated to developing climate solutions in 2023, says the announcement. The program promises access to Google applications and services, including Google Cloud Platform, and is open to early and growth stage startups from the seed to Series A stage of development.
Google seems keen to invite those in specific climate-focused industry verticals such as green tech, clean/renewable energy, environment, waste reduction, manufacturing or agriculture to take part, with applications now open until 20 January 2020. The selected candidates will be notified in February before the program kicks off properly in March with an in-person launch event. A series of virtual boot camps over the following months will finish with in-person demo days in front of Googlers, potential partners, and investors in June.
Google isn’t expecting startups to give up any equity in return for their participation, it promises. What it will provide to help these young companies grow through ten weeks of mentorship, group learning sessions, and technical project support.
