Roorkee/Dehradun: The Embassy of Israel in India organized a 2-day Water Innovation Conference in Uttarakhand on May 17-18, in close collaboration with TiE Dehradun, IIT Roorkee and UPES Dehradun.
Ambassador of Israel to India H.E. Naor Gilon said, “We are proud to organize a Water Innovation Conference with our partners in India. Both countries are close friends and strategic partners, and water security is one of the important pillars of our cooperation. Israel is a leader in the global water sector, and we are happy to share our advanced and cutting-edge water technologies, know-how and expertise with the people of India. We look forward to working closely with all our partners in India as we continue enhancing our relations and bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.”
The conference brought together Israeli and Indian experts, startups, academicians and researchers from the water technology sector. There were sessions and panel discussions on Israel-India collaboration, Israel-based innovations and partnership opportunities for Israeli and Indian startups in the field of water.
The keynote speaker of the conference was Prof. Hadas Mamane, a water specialist from Tel Aviv University, Israel. She is Head of the Environmental Engineering Program and the Water-Technology Laboratory at the university.

Dr. Lior Asaf, Water Attache at the Embassy of Israel in India, also took part in the conference. He shared his knowledge and experiences regarding the Israeli model for water management, water technologies, R&D implementation and the Israel-India water partnership. India is the only country where Israel has the position of Water Attache to help share Israeli best practices and technologies for advancements in India’s water management sector.
Doron Gidony, Innovation Attache at the Embassy of Israel in India, worked together with TiE Dehradun and organized the conference at two different universities in Uttarakhand.
The first part of the conference was organized on May 17 at IIT Roorkee, which has a close partnership with the Embassy of Israel in India. Recently both countries have signed a Joint Statement of Intent to establish a Center of Water Technology in India at IIT Roorkee. The second part of the conference was organized at UPES Dehradun on May 18.
