NEW DELHI (INDIA): On the eve of the India-Africa Business Summit, the Ambassador of Chad to India, Dillah Lucienne, extended a warm welcome to a high-level Chadian delegation. This significant visit marks a crucial step in the strengthening of India-Chad relations, particularly in the areas of trade and economic cooperation that have shown steady growth over the past few years.

During the visit, Chad’s Minister of Commerce led strategic discussions with the delegation, focusing on key areas of mutual interest and opportunities for collaboration. The Minister highlighted the vast potential for expanding trade relations, underscoring how both nations stand to benefit from deepened economic ties. He emphasized the importance of maximizing the delegation’s time in India by engaging in bilateral meetings that could lay the foundation for long-term partnerships.

The discussions are expected to build upon the existing trade relationship, which saw bilateral trade between India and Chad reach approximately USD 300 million in 2023. This trade has been driven largely by India’s import of crude oil from Chad and its export of pharmaceuticals, textiles, machinery, and other essential goods to the Central African nation.

The Minister encouraged the Chadian delegation to leverage India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies to explore new avenues for cooperation, particularly in sectors like energy, agriculture, and infrastructure. India’s expertise in these areas presents significant opportunities for investment and collaboration, which could contribute to sustainable development in Chad.

The visit is seen as a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between India and Chad. It signals a shared commitment to deepening economic ties and exploring new trade and investment opportunities. As both nations look to the future, the partnerships formed during this delegation’s visit are expected to play a critical role in enhancing the prosperity and development of both India and Chad.
