NEW DELHI: The Francophonie Mela 2025, hosted by the Alliance Française de Delhi (AFD) in collaboration with the Embassy of France in India, emerged as a landmark event in strengthening India’s cultural and diplomatic ties with the Francophone world. Inaugurated by the Ambassador of France to India and the Deputy Head of Mission for Rwanda in India, the festival served as a vibrant platform for showcasing the linguistic, artistic, and culinary diversity of Francophone nations from Africa and Europe.

This year’s Francophonie Mela brought together a dynamic representation of Francophone nations, featuring Togo, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Tunisia, Belgium, Switzerland, and France. Each country presented its rich cultural heritage through traditional food, art, and music, creating an immersive experience for visitors.

In Africa, India’s $100 billion+ trade relationship benefits from strong partnerships with nations like Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, and Guinea. In Europe, France, Belgium, and Switzerland remain key economic allies, with French investments in India exceeding €15 billion. Education also plays a crucial role, with over 10,000 Indian students enrolling in French universities annually, strengthening cultural and intellectual exchanges.
